Form factor is one of the most significant differences between the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The L model has an extended wheelbase that has been increased from 116.7 to 121.7 inches. The overall length is also increased from 193.5 inches—a hair more than 16 feet—to 204.9 inches, which a smidge more than 17 feet. The standard minimum ground clearance is also higher with the L model. It has been increased from 8.4 inches to 10.0 inches. Everything else is the same as both models share their trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve.

Interior – 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee in City of Industry CA
Differences in the interior are the reason the extended-wheelbase model was designed. The Grand Cherokee has traditionally been a midsize two-row five-passenger vehicle. The L is a midsize two-row six- or seven-passenger vehicle. The front row is the same in both vehicles. The second row is roomier in the standard model by 1.4 inches, which isn’t insignificant when seating adults. The trade-off is that the L has a third row with more than 30 inches of legroom. Of course, that comes with a substantial reduction in dedicated cargo space. The non-L model affords 37.7 cubic feet compared to just 17.2 cubes.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Mechanical specs
The Grand Cherokee is also available in a 4xe edition with a hybrid powertrain. Jeep actually treats this is as a separate model but realize that consumers don’t always make that distinction. Therefore, for the purposes of this discussion, it’s important to note that the 4xe is not currently available as an L model and Jeep has made no indication as to whether it ever plans to offer that option. Other than that, everything is the same. You have the option of either rear- or four-wheel drive. The available V6 and V8 are the same and do not have different output numbers due to the size or weight differences. Something else to note is that the Trailhawk has been transitioned to the 4xe platform. That means that there is no L option for the off-road model as well.
