This is where the biggest differences lie between the 2023 Dodge Charger and 2023 Dodge Challenger. The Charger is a four-door sedan. The Challenger is a two-door coupe, and so, there are some fundament differences right there that some customers will prefer one way or the other. The Charger is also a bigger vehicle in that it has a 120.0-inch wheelbase and a 198.4-inch length—about 16.5 feet. The Challenger, on the other hand, has a 116.2-inch wheelbase and a 197.9-inch length, and both have a ground clearance of 5.2 inches. As for the exterior colors, racing stripes, body graphics, spoilers and so forth that Dodge offers, these are the same for the most part across both models.

Both the 2023 Dodge Challenger and 2023 Dodge Charger available at Puente Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are five-passenger vehicles, but if people hauling is a focal point for you, the Charger is likely the better option. It provides more than 40 inches of second-row legroom, which is enough to accommodate adults comfortably. In contrast, the Challenger provides 7 inches less rear legroom and also doesn’t afford your rear passengers independent ingress and egress. Trunk space is also better in the Charger but probably not by enough to be a deciding factor for most buyers. If the sport experience is what is most important to you, the Charger does provide more driver headroom and a bit more legroom.

Dodge Charger Mechanical specs

Powertrains are arguably the most interesting aspect of any 2023 Dodge Charger vs 2023 Dodge Challenger comparison, and you do have a lot of choices here. A 3.6-liter is standard for both models with the SXT and GT trims, but it makes more than 300 horsepower with the Challenger due to the lighter overall weight of the vehicle. This slight horsepower advantage is even present when you step up to the R/T trim level, which is the first to have a V8. With the more powerful V8s, that advantage fades. However, when it comes to the supercharged 6.2-liter V8, there are some high-output configurations available for the Challenger that aren’t for the Charger: 807 hp and 880 hp.

The base infotainment package for both models includes the Uconnect software and 7-inch touch screen. The Charger does upgrade you to the 8.4-inch screen with the GT. With the Challenger, you either have to select it as an option or move up to the R/T trim level. A rearview camera system is standard in both cases. If it’s advanced driver-assistance technologies you want, those are available but offered via optional packages, which is an approach we prefer as it allows our customers who don’t want those features to not have to pay for them.
