Under the Durango's Hood

Most Durangos come standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine. This engine produces 260 lb-ft of torque and 290 horsepower--except if you get the Citadel trim or the Blacktop package, then you will get 295 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive is standard, however, all-wheel drive is optional. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard. When the vehicle stops at a stoplight or stop sign, a standard automatic stop-start system will kick in to shut down the engine and save you some fuel. If you purchase the R/T trim, you will be getting a 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 390 lb-ft of torque and 360 horsepower. Although this engine automatically comes with the R/T trim, it is optional for the Citadel. Purchasing the Durango with this engine should get you up to 22 miles per gallon (mpg) highway, 14 mpg city and 17 mpg combined.

Design of Dodge Durango

Four trim levels--SXT, GT, Citadel and R/T--are available for the 2017 Dodge Durango. Choosing to purchase the base SXT trim will get you features like cloth upholstery, a five-inch touchscreen interface, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a USB port and an SD card reader. The GT comes with things like 20-inch wheels, dual exhaust tips, power front seats, heated front and second-row seats, and a 115-volt power outlet. Getting the Citadel will provide you with chrome exterior trim, a roof-rail crossbar, a power-adjustable steering wheel, a nine-speaker audio system and an HD radio. The R/T has a Beats audio system and red accent stitching.
